I have three computers:
My main desktop is a 3.3GHZ WinXP Pro computer
I have a 2.4GHZ WinXP Pro Laptop
and I also have a old 1.5GHZ Laptop running Window98.

All computers have RealMedia Alternative (not sure which ver as there is no
exe for this. I think it is just CODECS for MPC) and MediaPlayer Classic
(6.4.9.0) installed on them.

When playing RealMedia files on the Win98 box I can click anywhere on the
seek-bar and instantly jump to the point. If I do that on either XP box it
takes 10 seconds before the video starts to play again (all using local
files). I have the same problem when doing a jump forward/backward just a
few seconds (ctrl arrow). It is even much faster seeking on the Win98
machine if I play the file across my network then if I play a local file on
either XP machine.

In the RealAlternative folder there is a settings.exe program. All 3
computers have exactly the same settings.

The XP machines are clean and virus free. They are working great in all
other respects.

How can old crappy & slow Win98 be so much faster? Any ideas on how to
correct this?

Thanks
