  1. I'm using MediaPlayer Classic, version 6.4.9.1. With all the MPEGs I've tried so far, when trying to capture a snapshot using File > Save Image... (Ctl+I) it fails with the obscure error message "GetCurrentImage failed, hr = 8000ffff". Whether specifying BMP or JPG, and whether playing or paused.

    Anyone able to reproduce this please, or know whether it's a recognised issue?

    You could try the newer Media Player Classic Homecinema. I just tried it out and it works on my pc.

  3. MPC needs to be using vrm9 or vrm7 as the renderer, cannot use overlay as the renderer for screenshots (check the output options=>output) , as a result, the images will have a discoloration (will look duller with vmr9).

    If you want proper color sampling and quality you could do it through avisynth, and use AvsP to take screenshots to .png or .bmp

    Thanks but mostly over my head!

    But as you plainly know your MPC, can I ask a different question please. In the new Home Cinema version, under Options > Player > Keys I see some entries like this:
    Command = Save Image (auto)
    Key = VK_F5

    What does 'VK_F5' mean please? IOW, what is this 'Virtual Key'?
