cut vs dissolve ...

Hi!

Im cutting my first shortfilm and need some tips about transitions.

What transitions are preferable to use in these scene:

1) Two people are sitting and talking in a coffee shop
2) They dissagree about something and are starting to discusse heavily
3) One of them are getting on the bike and are leaving the coffeshop

How to cut between these three scenarios. (each scenario consists of many clips which I cut with straight clips) but how do I best cut between 2) and 3). with what transition?

my options between 2) and 3) is (without order):
a) crossdisolve - fade one picture into another
b) straight cuts here aswell
c) fade in fade out dissolve
d) fade out in one clip, but without fade in. so it goes straight into a straight clip
e) straight cut and then fade in to the next clip.

the transition might be preferable?
when using the options c) d) e)? when is one preferable if front of the other and is it some of these techiques that are very seldom used?

My 2 cents

Dissolves are best used to show scene change or time lapse. Cuts are used within a scene.

which dissolve are preferable to use than in the described scenario:
a) crossdisolve - fade one picture into another
c) fade in fade out dissolve
d) fade out in one clip, but without fade in. so it goes straight into a straight clip
e) straight cut and then fade in to the next clip.

I like c) for a scene change.

I like a) for landscape scenery transitions.

And I like cuts for reverse dialog.
