I have a Sony digital8 camcorder. My old power cable is missing. So, in this case I need a new power cable. One of my friends gave me a power cable for SHARP camcorder. The pin of cable of SHARP camcorder looks the same with the SONY cable. But on the power cable of Sony, the input voltage is 7V, and in SHARP is 8V. Do you think is nothing important, or is dangerous, to tray that (maybe I am gone break the camcorder) Help please.

The 1 volt difference probably won't matter, but the amp rating could be problematic, how do they compare? Also make sure the polarity matches. They may have used the same connector, but that doesn't mean that they wired it the same. "Shut up Wesley!" -- Captain Jean-Luc Picard

The size of the pin is the same. I tried to connect the cable with the camcorder, withuout plugin the stream on the wall. So I do not know what to do.Originally Posted by gadgetguy

buy a multi-voltage adapter from Radio Shack.
they're cheap, come with a ton of plugs, and you can switch the polarity on them if necessary.

Or contact Sony to see if you can buy a new one from them."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright
