hey I'm totally new on the forum and I'm dutch btw so there's a rather big possebility I wright a hell of a lot typo's :P sorry for that

now my question : I just bought a macbook and wanted to rip some dvd's to my hardrive so I installed mactheripper , I insert a dvd into my mac and it runs alright but when I rip it the file is just to big . . . its 60 GB (no kidding) for a single movie . . . so now I was wondering if there's an app that I can juse to shrink this to lets say 5-6 GB cause otherwise I can put 2 dvd's on my harddrive and it would be full . . .

I know there probably already is a topic on that but I'm quit new with the terms and stuff (sertenly in english) so I just wanted to ask to be shure

Sorry, but there's no way that those numbers are correct. A DVD can store up to ~9GB for a dual-layer disc, not 60GB (whcih is more Blu-Ray like in capacity).

If your OS is reporting that the file has occupied 60GB, then you have a problem with your computer, or you are mis-reading 6GB as 60GB. Put on your eyeglasses, and double-check those numbers. If it's really 60GB, then you need to do some maintenance and repair of your computer.

  3. Or maybe you're trying to rip WALL-E? Anyway, you may be seeing duplication of titlesets as a result of copy protection.

(If the above is correct, dunno what to advise for a Mac user. Try running DVDFabHDDecrypter on a Windows machine, full disc mode, then open the ripped files in DVDShrink.)

    Good luck.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

Interesting. I've not encountered this myself, but I can imagine how that could be the case.

Now you've got me curious. I was planning to buy Wall-E anyway, so I'll have to run this experiment when I do.

    Hi Folks,
    To the Dutch-Guy..Hi!
    60 GB-NO WAY!....
    Possible Solution:
    1) Run through MactheRipper to decode (FREE)
    2) To convert if needed to AVI or DVD: BURN (Free)
    3) To shrink and burn : DVD2OneX2 ($USD 52.00-WELL WORTH IT)
I just went through a brain crushing 2 months trying to figure out how to do all this..and after buying 2 DVD Burners-USB and Firewall, getting ripped off by ISKYsoft DVD Copy for Mac--totally buggy/dysfunctional-and they wouldn't support my purchase nor my questions.
I tried all the FREE programs and FREE TRIALS-YUBurner, ffmpegX, Toast 6, 7, and 8, and plenty of others.
Thank the CyberDeity for DVD2OneX2..which solved all my problems-along with MTR and BURN!
BTW I use a PowerMac (Sawtooth) G4 (Victoria II).

    Good Luck
    LH

That is not true with some of the newer DVDs like Wall-E. If I remember, it was a little under 60GB.
