  1. I added a comment on another thread but I probably should have started a new one, so you may see this question someplace else. Has anybody had any problems using a Pinnacle Studio Moviebox Plus for a/d conversion? Not Pinnacle software.
A few years ago I did a tape-to-dvd conversion project that worked out well. I used borrowed equipment & after alot of trial & error got things rolling & had several good DVDs. I took notes about some of the problems & how they were resolved but of course I can't find those notes now. The audio & video outputs from my vhs player went into the analog inputs of a borrowed Sony camera. The output of the camera went into the firewire connector on the PC. Adobe Premier was used to capture. Somebody recently asked me about this & I suggested using a Canopus a/d converter & I was asked "Pinnacle Studio Moviebox Plus is less expensive. Can't I use that for the a/d conversion?". So I don't know, has anybody used that ? Just for the hardware not the software. The quality of the tapes is vhs home movies recorded on hand held consumer cameras of various brands.

    Thanks,
    Jim

Hi Jim, I've got a Pinnacle MovieBox that I bought for transferring video off my old 8mm camcorder. I don't use it anymore now that I have Firewire and HDMI-capable cameras, but while I was using the MovieBox I don't remember it giving me any major headaches.

It's got RCA and S-Video ports with the ability to transfer to PC via USB or Firewire, so it should fit your needs.

Yes, the software part of it... haha... is a little lacking.

Pinnacle has a nice capture utility but the software itself has given me big problems and even has a bit of a reputation for giving computers the old knockout blow. That aside, the MovieBox interface should do the trick.
