    hi everyone i have a mpg file that i would like to cut into 4 different parts when i set the start and end points i want to cut and save the file i load it up in media player but there is no audio, i have the audio and video set to copy in the avidemux settings am i doing something wrong?

    if anyone could help me out id be so greatfull

    If I'm not mistaken....cutting on a "key frame" is important when copying. I could be wrong though.

    If you do any editting in AviDemux, you have to set Video otput to some format, in your case it will be MPEG-PS and encoding format for video to DVD , audio can stay as copy.

    thanks 4 the replies i have tried all the different formats and still have no luck i want to keep the spilt files as avi files dont want them in dvd format just dont understand why the audio wont work the original mpg file works fine on media player very strange indeed

    I have the exact opposite problem with AviDemux.
    AVI cutting is not a problem....but those choices it has for MPEG
    output are confusing and IMO....none of them work very well.

    I am with you on that one.
    Sometime it take me two or three try before I get anywhere.
    It generate an error and close, no warning what could be wrong.

    This is just a thought.
    Since you are cutting, try to set audio to some format instead of copy. See if that works.

    Are you using the latest SVN?

    Another approach would be to split the VOB's first with mpg2cut2, then encode to XviD/AVI while retaining the original AC3 or MP2
