  1. Hi guys.
I wanted to burn high quality movies from my hard disk to DVD.
So I used about all of dvd authoring tools, but only ConverXtoDVD could burn dvds with subtitles and also supported mkv and ogm codecs. So it was the best of all other programs.but it had a problem.I used this application to burn a dvd from a dvd-video disc.I mean I imported Vob files then burned them. But I saw the burned movie had a smaller size in the result.I mean the original disc was 4.1 GB but the dvd burnt with ConverXtoDVD has 3.8 GB.I tried to use the high quality options but it was the maximum quality. So the big problem is that it doesn't burn as high quality as other applications.
Well is it possible to increase the quality in ConverXtoDVD or is there any guide on how to author a dvd without encoding problems(since I've had a lot of problem encoding avi to dvd compatible mpeg-2 to use in dvd lab-pro or other softwares).
    I repeat again:
I want to burn Avi movies with subtitles with the highest quality.
or if possible,it could be nice if I could burn mkv without loss of quality.
    thanks.

You mentioned both AVI and VOB videos in your post, which is confusing, since both are very different. In the case of VOB files, they are already DVD-compliant and should not need to be re-encoded at all. You should have just taken the original DVD and copied the entire VIDEO_TS folder. No conversion is necessary.

In the case of AVI files, you will do a reconversion, so there might be a loss of quality, but maybe not detectable to the eyeballs if you select a high bitrate.

  3. you're right.vob files don't need to be coverted but I used ConverXtoDVD to add subtitles.so I needed to reencode it.
And about avi videos to dvd with high quality with subtitle,Is there any app which supports it with the highest quality?

No, you didn't. There are several good guides for adding selectable subtitles to an existing DVD without the need to re-encode.

in convertxtodvd you cannot fix the video bitrate. you can only select within the given parameters of vcd,dvd etc. am i correct?can u suggest another appln to convert av1 files , in which we can fix the videobitrate and can have an idea about the final output in MB?

It's because you have 'Disable BBcode' checked in your post. Go to edit in that post and uncheck it and it should work properly. Disabling BBCode will also disable other features. You also have 'Disable smilies' checked, so they won't work either.

Have a look at AVI2ISO, it uses HCEnc so does give better results thatn ConvertXtoDVD but is a lot slower as it rebuilds the video from scratch to match to given size, and as it uses AVISynth give you a much greater control over what can be done as you can now use filters and functions, which can improve the final output but also makes life more complicated a syou need to know what you are doing, whereas ConvertXtoDVD is basically click and go

I still use ConvertXtoDVD, but am slowly moving over to AVI2ISO. It also handles MKV and subtitles

Its also 100% freeware as it uses all free software, so all you have to lose is time. Installed from the installer it is basically click and go
