  1. Hello, All.

The strangest thing has been happening to my PC. 5 or 6 times in the past couple weeks, only while in the midst of encoding video/audio(using either ConvertX, TMPGEnc XPress or Womble) the system just powers-down on its own. And I don't mean "shutting down" or rebooting. I mean like pulling the plug from the wall shutdown. Poof! No power. And to make it even stranger, the power light on the CPU stays on after this happens, after there is no power. Meaning I must then actually unplug the CPU power line or flick off the power strip in order to restart the computer.

And when I do turn it back on, everything is fine. No damage. (Of course the encoded files it was working on are screwed.) This has only happened during video/audio encoding/muxing and never at any other time. And only 5 or 6 times during encoding. The majority of encodes finish fine with no trouble.

What goes on here??? Codecs, type of video or audio file, virus, memory?

    Thanks in advance,
    M22

    Sounds like you're overheating.

Either overheating, or your power supply is starting to fail. It may not be able to handle the processing load.
