The problem is with the settings below i perform a capture and two things happen:
    1) when capturing the preview window the video is stretch well beyond 640 and the height is much smaller than 480, stretched and short, and there are 2 vids stacked on top of each other.
    2) when i am done capturing, i play the clip in media player and it is stretched and short.
Is that the way it is supposed to be?
then when i compress after my edit stage do i resize or is there something i am doing wrong when i capture.
Also i want to mention that i am capturing standard definition

    Huffyuv-2.1.1
    Video - Compression {Huffyuv v2.1.1 - CCESP Patch v0.2.5}
    Video - Set Custom Format
    - Frame Size
    -- 640x480
    - Data Format
    -- YUY2 - YUV 4:2:2 interleaved

    --------------------
    Thanks
    Chris

  2. The output from HuffYUV should be exactly the same as the input. Something is going wrong somewhere. Use MediaInfo or GSpot to examine your file. What do they say about the frame dimensions, codec, etc?

You said you see "2 vids stacked on top of each other". Are they really on top of each other, or side by side? Is the image otherwise normal? No weird colors, etc?

Thanks for the suggestion, I will run the programs on the file when i get home and then post info.
When I say 'there are 2 vids stacked on top of each other' I mean in the preview area of VDub during the capture, . . is that strange or normal?
    thanks
    Thanks

That is not normal. The reason I asked if they were stacked vertically or horizontally was because there is an "unfold fields side by side" option in VirtualDub's deinterlace function. I thought you might have been using that.

The vertical stacking could be that capture devices way of handling interlaced video. This could be restored to "normal" by interleaving the two fields. I don't know of a VirtualDub filter that does this though.

  6. You need to figure out why the preview in VirtualDub is wrong before you worry about codecs. Some capture devices only capture 352x240. What are you capturing from?

  8. You should look through what others have to say about the card:

You may be able to find generic Conexant drivers that work better with it. Did you get some capture software with it? Does that work?
