I would like to encode files on my work PC but I am not sure if TMPG will have problems with me using the PC while it is encoding. (other than slowing the process down, which isnt a prob because Im at work..HEHE) Does anyone do this? Thanks

No there shouldn't be a problem with the encoding, except as you said, it'll just take longer. I've even played games on my PC while encoding in TMPGEnc, and there was no ill affects. Just be sure the pc's got good specs, or else it'll really slow down the encoding.

I always multitask while encoding with TMPGEnc, and it's never caused me any problems.

I run very CPU and graphics intensive 3d CAD while running 2 TMPGEnc sessions on a 1.6G P4. Since TMPGEnc is so CPU intensive, your apps will become very unresponsive. Make sure you set TMPGEnc Option/Task Priority to "Idle time only" and you'll hardly notice any difference. TMPGEnc makes very efficient use of idle time and encode time won't go up very much.

Digifreak is right, you should change task priority to "idle time only" if you're going to multitask. Personally, I always leave task priority at "idle time only" even if I'm not multitasking.
Why anyone would run 2 sessions at once instead of batch encoding is beyond me, though... -
um idle time?????
Whenever im doing anything, i always leave mine active and non active to normal, it never bogs my pc down at all on normal and i only got a 600 mhz 384 mb ram
Now, when set to high, i cant do NOTHIN.
Leave it at normal.
I have played pc games, music, burn, have 2 encoding, autocad2002(brief), and using virtualdub before(take in mind not all this at same time, lol)
and everything performs fine if left at normal.
If ur pc doesnt run smoothly on normal, im me on aim shizzzon and i'll get ur pc up and runnin faster for yaShiZZZoN PzN
Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one. -
one thing to think about though... if your comp crashs because of anything you are doing at the time you will loose all your progress on the encode... probably unlikly if running win2k/xp, but id keep it in mind if running an unstable OS like 98/me.
