I'm encoding a massive amount of MKV's with .ass subtitles to wmv. I've tried using gotsent but I can never get subtitles to work. I've checked the forums and it seems my only option is to re-encode using tmpeng express (or the like). This is working fine but will undoubtedly take forever.

Is there any program I can use like gotsent that will support these subtitles or am I doomed to re-encode to wmv?

BTW: This is for XBox 360 playback over a network.

Also by "Massive amount of MKV's" I mean a couple hundred.

You must reconvert because the xbox doesn't support mp4 with soft/switchable subs.

You can also use Xvid4psp, load mkv, load the subtitle, choose the xbox profile and convert. And yes it will take some hours to convert...

    Snap.

Well, it's working fine with tmpeng and I don't think extracting all the ass files and adding them would be faster. Thanks for easing the pain. I would hate to have converted them and found out there was a faster way.

    2 days left to go....O_o

One more question that came up as I was watching a movie I encoded.

It seems that no matter what bitrate I use I always get stuttering randomly throughout the movie. It's not enough to make it unwatchable but it is an annoyance.

Let's say I'm encoding an MKV to WMV at 6000kps and 5.1 audio for streaming to my 360. I've been using tmpeng express and don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Any tips?

I found that when encoding 23.976 mkv @720 to dvd 23.976 the video would come out choppy, most likely the same problem you are getting, tmpg express doesnt encode h.264 codec properly, try another encoder, thats what i did and the files came out good.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

As you can see, my only option to properly encode videos for my XBox is wmv (At least for 1080p surround sound purposes).

I'll be getting a coaxial cable for my pc soon so I won't really NEED to encode anymore (if I can set it up right) but I can't seem to find any converters that support windows media audio 10.

Handbrake doesn't work for wmv's and neither does xvid4psp. Is there any other program out there that stops the jitters?

BTW. My pc is overclocked but I haven't seen anyone say that this is the reason for the jitters. Could that have anything to do with it?
