I have an AVI, I have good conversion tools to go from AVI to Mpeg2

What I would like to do is: take this encoded Mpeg2, add a subtitle and burn it to DVD fast and easy.

I used to use Encore: it recognizes the Mpeg2 as encoded and doesn't require encoding anymore... but frankly, the subtitle support kinda blows.
I tried stuff like ConvertXDVD, but that apps isn't intelligent enough to see that my Mpeg2 is already converted, so it converts it again, which is a big waste of time... and compared to the convertors I use, the Mpeg's ConvertX produces is very poor and rather slow.

So what I am looking for is a simple program that can take my already encoded Mpeg2, which is ready for DVD, take an .srt or .sub file and without encoding my Mpeg2 once more, burn it to a DVD... I don't even need a menu.

Would you be willing to suggest a program, with good subtitle support that can take already encoded files without re-encoding them, to burn the whole to DVD fast and easy?

The reason ConvertXDVD converts is that it is...a converter. You just want to author, meaning you keep the individual elements (subtitles and mpeg2) unmolested, and simply collect them together in a DVD-compliant structure.

There are a multitude of DVD authoring tools, ranging from free and simple, to expensive and complex (and other permutations of those attributes). I don't know what tools you have, but here's a set of guides from this website for some of the more common options:

I'm sure users of these various tools will shortly jump in with their likes and dislikes (filmboss80 just beat me to posting a reply; I, too, am a fan of DVDauthor). Since you only want a basic DVD without bells and whistles, you shouldn't have any difficulty getting that put together.

Thanks man, that's exactly what I was looking for: fast, easy, clean, good subtitle support.

6 mouseclicks and I'm done... non of my pro tools can beat that. Thanks.
