I have a motherboard with no serial ports for the keyboard or mouse. It only has an input port. How do I get my keyboard and mouse connected to the pc?

How's My English?

mice and keyboards haven't had serial cables for 15 or so years. they either have ps2(small round ends) or usb these days. time to upgrade.
your english sounds fine -
You need to do one of two things.
Buy new USB Keyboard and Mouse or....
Buy one of the converters that takes PS2 Keyboard and Mouse and converts it to a USB connection for the computer. -
AFAIK, the PC has NEVER used a serial port for the keyboard (DB9 or DB25 type - the keyboard always had its own serial port).

wan2no, what motherboard do you have? Most all now seem to have PS2 inputs.
If not, USB, as mentioned, is a good option. USB mouses are fairly common. Lots are USB with a PS2 adapter included. USB KBs are also available. Most newer OS's have no problem with USB. Win95/98 may be an exception, but drivers are usually available.
They have dropped the parallel and serial port on many newer motherboards to leave more room on the interface for other newer additions like HDMI, 5.1 audio, extra USB 2.0 inputs, 1394A, coaxial and optical audio, and other inputs/outputs. But several of the MBs I have still have parallel and serial ports on the motherboard itself, accessible with a add-on PCI adapter. -
sorry, i didn't respond. I didn't mean serial, i meant ps2, sorry.
I got it solved, i bought a usb keyboard and mouse.
Thanks alot for the adviceHow's My English?
