Look into antenna options, available for use with the MB. Good antennas are essential. Look at the mechanics of mounting the antenna.

Beyond that - remember that WiFi is prone to various types of interference, bringing the interface into the chassis may yield results which are inferior to cabling to a router, due to RFI within the box, generated not only by the MB but all of the internal components.

P35 is a great Chipset. If you want to install Vista, you may find out that your disk will not be supported for installation purposes. This is a problem with Vista and Intel SATA drivers. This actually happened to me with an Abit IP35 board and a WD 150 Raptor hard disk.

For brands I prefer ASUS and Abit.

Other than this my machine has been rock solid.

Regarding the Raptor HD, I manged to use it bu installing Vista using a old PCI SATA card. After Vista was up and fully patched with MS and Intel updates, I moved my Raptor to the onboard SATA ports.

Regarding the wifi. I do prefer PCI network cards that I could upgrade with better antennas and drivers avialblr for the operating system that I use. If the internal wifi card do support upgrading the antenna, I think you should be OK.

When you say "editing", What do you mean?

Editing video and converting from one format to another?

I do a lot of video transcoding from AVI DV to MPEG2. This is the reason I got a Quad core. For games it would be a better option to get the fastest dual core that could be afforded.

If by "editing" you mean word processor, definitely you do not need a quad core. For XP at least get 1 GB RAM and for Vista future prof, get 2 GB RAM.

I also will be useing it for home video editing inc.
capturing from old VHS and mini DV both NTSC and PAL.

No real benefit from a quad CPU , right ?

I just put together a new machine, and found quad core to be very reasonably priced and well worth the money. For encoding it is amazing just how much of a difference it can make. Even for XP, 2 GB of DDR2 800 Mhz ram is a good investment.

As for WiFi, my view is that it is great for a laptop, and pointless on a desktop unless it is a HTPC sitting some distance from the router. You will get a more reliable connection over ethernet, and can get in to make changes even if the wireless isn't talking. I run two laptops and a desktop here, and the desktop connects via ethernet.
