  1. I'm trying to get mkv to play on my ps3, I followed these 2 guides and they both didn't work, my ps3 was unable to detect any files in my usb key which is formatted in fat32

    Followed http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/how_to_play_mkv_content_on_playstation_3_ps3.cfm

    and http://hubpages.com/hub/How-To-Play-MKV-Files-On-Playstation-3

Tools used were tsmuxer and mkv2vob.

assuming you did everything correctly, at a guess i would say the file is too large. most vob files i have created with mkv2vob usually dont fit on a disk. try burning vob file to a dvd using roxio or nero and burn as data dvd.if it dont fit on a disc then thats the problem.

If I recall you have to go to the options for the usb stick in the ps3 menu and select "display all" ,you should now see your files and if compatible you should be able to play them.
