I have 3 files with avi extensions that actually appear to be mkv files. Even though I have Perian installed they won't play in QuickTime, and thus not in Front Row either. They all have four tracks: h264 video, English and Japanese vorbis audio tracks, and an English subtitle track. The tracks are in different orders in each file (v,e,j,s; e,j,v,s; v,s,e,j). It seems that with ffmpegX I can only either get the Japanese audio or none. In the Audio settings "Audio track:" set to 0 gives me Japanese and everything else gives me nothing. In fact, even unchecking the "Encode audio" checkbox still gives me Japanese audio. I can extract the English audio track with mkvextract mkvtoolnix. I can extract the English audio track using mkvextract from mkvtoolnix, but the same is not true for the video. The extracted video track file won't play in QuickTime, VLC, or DivX Player. What I want is a file I can play in Front Row with English Audio. Any suggestions?
