Hey, I have a load of my personal DVD rips, there are about 6 movies on each CD. Unfortunately being different genres, I would like any people's ideas on how to go about catergorising them. They're are in CD jewel cases, so we will be seeing the spine of the CD case. Any ideas on what I could do to easily locate any film at any time, straight away would be great!! Thanks guys!!

Put them all on a HDD and get a player than can access them from there, or use a HTPC or media extender type rig.

On a more practical note, I have these cases I picked up for around $15 each (try The Warehouse or Crazy Clints). Each case contains 4 slide out books that hold 24 discs each - 96 per case. The cases can be stacked and locked together if you want. You can simply pull out a booklet and flip through it and read the discs. If you classify them sensibly when you put them in the cases you can find them again pretty easily.

  6. He also wants to know about software that will "catergorize" all his movies on HD of whatever type avi, mpg or Vob.
[s:fe3828ce57]I[/s:fe3828ce57] sorry, He hasn't been able to find something that will search all his DVD's and HD's and put all this stuff in a big Database with internet connectiivity.y'know to get Star Bio's and such-like..

Ya dont really have 6 movies per CD, you mean DVD surely?? 110mb per movie is slightly quality impaired.

Movie Collector is a good application.

I've been using that for a couple of years and quite satisfied with it.
