Hey guys
I have vast amount of files encoded in MPEG-2 (60GB worth), and I would like to converted them to more efficient and better quality format.
I’ve used Windows Vista’s Movie Maker, and the quality was superb (better than the original in some case). However, it doesn’t de-interlace well. So I can’t convert most of my videos.
I’ve also tried Handbrake (transcoder), and I found it to be far more efficient than Movie Maker. However, it does cause video errors from time to time (green blocks).
For the record, I still record shows in MPEG-2 using my DVD recorder, so I would prefer an editor as opposed to a converter.
So, are there any quality/effective commercial or opensource editors I can use to convert and edit my videos?
PS: Could you please also recommend me a DVD-VR extractor that is compatible with Vista x64?

Forgot to mention, I would like the software to be self contained. In other words, I don’t wish to install 3rd party codecs which may harm my system. In fact, I would prefer the app to be similar to Adobe Premier Elements or Ulead Video Studio. They use their own codecs which cannot be used by 3rd party software, which means no conflict.
TBH, I own both applications, but they are useless when it comes to WMV9 and H.264. And Adobe has so many problems theycannot be fixed by end-user.
