I have been using Nero recode in Nero 7 to encode my DVDs to MPEG4 for some time and absolutely love it. It is extremely fast and produces high quality results. I have a AMD Phenom 9850 quad core processor with 4GB of memory on Vista Ultimate x86. I finally upgraded to Nero 8 and tried recode and the frames per second dropped way down. With Nero 7 I was getting about 115 frames/sec with the default settings with Nero 8 I dropped down to 15 frames/sec. So I changed the encoding settings to fastest instead of good and it bumped it up to 80 frames/sec. All 4 cores run at about 94% so I know it is working hard on something. What is going on, anyone else experience this? Did Nero change its encoder?
