  1. I been looking for a good and easy program to convert my dvds to mp4 with the option of external subs. I have tried AutoGK and DVDFab Platinum and FairUse Wizard which took forever to convert. I just tried to use Nero Recode 2 CE for it...the process of converting is much faster than any that I have tried...but I couldnt get the sub though. I know that there is a tab for subs which I did select but it didnt come out after the conversion. Any help? Thanks...

Did you try one-pass/constant quality encoding in fairuse wizard or dvdfab?

You could also extract the subs from the dvd using vsrip and add to the mp4 using yamb.

  3. Very strange...I tried to watch the same mp4 file in my other computer which haali media splitter and it shows the subs. It seems like the subs are encoded into the mp4 file. The only thing is the color of the sub is very poor and not that clear.

Yep, you need a player or splitter that supports switchable subtitles. I guess the subs are dvd image subtitles and they are usually not that fine. If you want to adjust those you must convert to text/srt subtitles(subrip).

  5. I can rip the subs from the DVD itself and play it along with the mp4 with DirectVobSub but it become unsync with the video.

I really do not want to hardcode onto the video file because I want the option of no sub too...but it seems like its much easier to hardcode the sub onto the video...grrr.

I did exactly as you suggested...ripped the sub with VSRip and combined it with the mp4 using yamb. The text/color is what I wanted butttt...its out of sync with the video...grrr. I just cant win!!!
