    Hi all,

I'm trying to get a pc headset mic to work on my Panasonic NV-MX7.

When I plug it in, all I get is a BUZZZZZ when I play back the recording.

Same happens when I use a directional mic that came with the motherboard for the computer.

Any ideas what might be going on?

Both microphones work fine on the computer. And I really don't think that just because it is not a special designed mic for a camcorder that it will not work.

What do you think is going on?

This looks like the specs for the external mic: Mic Input: Mic sensitivity j50 dB (0 dBl1 V/Pa, 1 kHz) (Stereo mini jack)

I don't know if your microphone matches that, but that could be the problem.

chances are the mic headset and pc mic are mono, also the headset mic will have earphone connection on the same plug as the mic.

the mic input on the cam will probably be stereo so you are probably shorting out one side of the stereo mic input with the headset mic, and if the pc mic is mono then that will short out one side of the stereo mic input too.
