  1. Hello All,

A couple of years ago I was involved in a project that required some footage to be exported from FinalCut as a Targa image sequence to then be input to Quantel eQ. Despite seemingly having all compression off we were still getting each image at a different filesize and the import wouldn't work as a result. After a few hours of playing about we finally discovered an option in FinalCut to 'switch bitpacking off' and this cured it. I've got the same problem again and for the life of me can't find this option in FinalCut Pro. Could the option have been removed from later versions or am I just incapable of finding it?! Any help with this would be most warmly welcomed.

    Many thanks,

    rou

I don't know FCP, but Targa images can be compressed in a variety of ways as part of the targa format. I would be looking at how the image saving is configured and what flexibility you have when select targa for output.

  3. There are options for uncompressed output but I would have expected all the file sizes to be exactly the same if they really were uncompressed, rather than lossless. Like I say, last time this happened we were able to check this specific 'bitpacking off' option but I can't find any reference to it now! I reckon it's no longer available but hope I'm wrong. It's a bit of an obscure one, that's for sure

    Thanks for replying.
