  1. I'm at my wits end with a capture card I've got for my PC to capture Xbox 360 and PS3 gameplay footage. Right, take a deep breath. If you can't help no worries, but it might be something fairly simple that you may notice I've done wrong.

BOUGHT - INTENSITY PRO CAPTURE CARD, has HDMI OUT, HDMI IN and VGA Slot

REASON- TO CAPTURE FOOTAGE FROM XBOX 360/AND OR PS3 ON SAMSUNG SYNHCMASTER T220 MONITOR, which has 1 x DVI IN SLOT and 1 x RGB IN SLOT and no audio output.

So this is my set-up. I have PS3 component cable going from PS3 to break-out cable. Five different coloured male leads going into five coloured female leads - IN. The other end of the break-out cable slots into teh capture card.

I then use the HDMI Out slot to connect a HDMI/DVI cable to the monitor. In the RGB monitor slot I have left my HD AV Component cable which allows me to play the Xbox 360 on the monitor, however I don't need to have this plugged in for the purpose of capturing PS3 footage, however this particular cable splits and has audio cables that go into my Logitech speakers, so that's how I'm gettting sound on my PC.

The plot thickens. I turn PC on and nothing, i turn PS3 on and nothing comes on screen. I presume this is because I've taken the DVI to VGA cable that was in the monitors DVI slot out and going into the PC and replaced it with the HDMI to DVI cable. How on earth does the monitor recognise my PC or PS3 then? Should the capture card pick it up?

I don't know whether it's because I need a HDMI monitor or what I need to do.

    Any ideas?

Go to the black magic control panel and make sure that the input/output is set accordingly.

Also check if you're using the most recent 3.5.1 drivers. I tried those drivers and I had the same issue, nothing worked at all. I had to go back to 3.4 drivers for mine to work right again.

  3. Thanks, I've resorted to 3.4 drivers but still no luck.

I'm sure I have the settings right in the control panel as well.

I am right in having the HDMI/DVI cable going from HDMI out on the card into the back of my monitor?

I think it may be the cable then. If its an HDMI to DVI, I don't know if that works or not with the Blackmagic. I've never tried it.
