I re-installed it and my problem went away..but a new one arose.
Now it says "Error!:Statsfile not found" and after i click ok it shows another error "Virtualdub Error:Cannot start video compression- The operation is not supported.(error code -1)".....What can I do to fix this problem? Its so frustrating, all I want to do is convert an mkv file

  5. Either you're trying to run the 2nd pass without first having run the first pass, or you didn't set a name and destination for the stats file.

VDub sometimes has problems with *.mkv's, try something like alltoavi and convert to Xvid or DivX

-bump- I still need help, does anyone know how to fix my VIRTUALDUB problem?

  15. If you're using AviSynth to open your MKV file then VirtualDub isn't the problem. There is a problem in your DirectShow MKV file splitter or the codec that's decoding the video (ffdshow?).

In my experience, MKV is mostly a write only format. It can be very difficult to convert to anything else.

Re-install the splitter components or update them to the latest versions
    Read my blog here.

  18. Your h.264 stream may be using PAFF and MBAFF which older versions of ffdshow didn't support. Update ffdshow if you haven't already. Or get CoreAVC.
