  1. Having finished editing in premiere pro cs3, I want to export to a format to burn to dvd. There is no option to export to mpeg2 in the trial.

What is the best format to export to? DV AVI?

I will then import this into dvd authoring software, but I guess this will need to convert it - Will I lose much quality?

Is the project format DV? What was the import standard?
DV.AVI is likely to be your best bet so long as the authoring software also includes an MPeg2 encoder. Other options are uncompressed YCbCr or RGB.

That is all good. DV in, DV project, DV export.

Both Premiere and ULead DVD Workshop use the Mainconcept MPeg2 encoder (small differences). For camcorder DV material, encode 29.97 fps, 720x480i, bottom field first and about 8000 Kb/s. You are set for your trial.
