    hi all

    first post , plz help

i have some movies , want to embed arabic subs into it in order to play it with my philips dvdr5500 ... ok , i used canopus pro coder to do the encoding with subs , selecting divx encoder (ver 6.8) and the result was very cool , all the avi's runs cool on my pc and player except for one thing ....

i can't fast forward or rewind using my philips dvdr5500 . it gave me " index information not available" error !! googling my error it seems to be a key frame error so i re encode using virtuale dup and divx 6.8 again .... got the same error ???

plz , what should i do to get my avi's able to navigate using my hardware player???

    thanks ..

  2. Maybe you could run divfix on your output files

Did you use too high of a bitrate? That can give some standalone players problems

What settings for DivX? Did you use the "home theatre" profile?

Have you ever been able to get a DivX file to navigate on that player? (not ones encoded by your process)

what is the difference between the movies i download and the same ones after re encoding ??? don't get it yet

  4. It must be something you do (some setting) that causes your player to act like this, because it navigates well before hardcoding the subs

It must be a different setting used

    Did you try divfix?

OK , tried divfix - no errors and the resulting avi also couldn't be navigated??? how could i do the sub hardcoding with the same setting of the original movie ? i mean bitrate , keyframe count etc...

onething i noticed , canopus gives me ffdshow in source compression type
    ? why not xvid ?

  6. If you use mediainfo (view=>text), it might show some more information on the encoding settings used for the file that does navigate. Use it on the file that navigates, and compare with the file that doesn't

It will show something like this. It might be some setting like packed bitstream, or fps, etc...
