Hello everyone, I believe this is an HD DVD movie. Not sure. I do know it is an image file. jagbo was helping me in the other section. My question is, how do I get an .img file into a regular format? I assume that would be a start and then from there take a look at gspot for the codecs so I can encode from HD to regular XviD? Am I right or wrong? Thank you for any replies.

What you have is a disc img. Mount it with Daemon Tools and you can access it like any other disc, and do whatever you need to it.

I just took a look at Daemon Tools and I think in order to mount it I need an HD drive? Is there anyway to work around that and mount it without burning?

The whole point of Daemon Tools is that it pretends to be a drive so you don't need one - it is an emulator. Interestingly, while the Tools page for Daemon Tools says it supports img files, the actual site doesn't have them listed as a possible.

You might also look at MagicDisc (magicdisc.net) which is another free Virtual Drive application, and does explicitly state it supports .img images.

Based on the name of the file, I suspect you actually have a DVD image. How big is it ?

You are almost certainly wrong about this. What makes you think so? While in theory it is possible to burn HD-DVD movies to dual layer DVD discs (the format specifically allows this), there are no commercial examples of this. Since there basically aren't any HD-DVD burners either at this time, an IMG file of a true HD-DVD would be pointless. The only exception I could see is if someone took a high def TV recording and authored it to DVD dual layer size in HD-DVD format (this is possible and I have an example of such a disc), but these discs are rare and probably you don't have one.

If your IMG file is 4.5 GB or less, I can promise you that it's not HD-DVD. The format requires the use of DVD dual layer discs at a minimum.
