I have an IMG file of a film and I'm trying to make a DVD that will play in any DVD player.

    I have 2 DVD recorders:
    Internal HP 1040
    External Buslink DVD R/RW

    XP Home

Software: Nero 8 Ultra, Slysoft Clone/AnyDVD

    Media: DVD-R, DVD+DL, DVD+RW

I found several recommendations online that said to rename the iso to an img and then burn it with Nero. Nero didn't like the DVD-R but was happy to brune with a DVD +DL. The problem is that the DVD plays just fine on the drive it was burned on (and yes, it was finalized) but if I try to play the DVD in a regular DVD player, the player says the file is no good.

I've also tried burning the ISO file to DVD via AnyDVD and CloneDVD with a DVD-R. After an 8 minute 'writing' process, I then was told it was done but then again, the DVD player says the DVD is unplayable.

Can anyone recommend what to do? I'd hate to have to 'rip' the DVD I created to AVI and then put it back to DVD (a process that DOES work for me). I'm afraid of degradation to the file.

    Any help is much appreciated!

not sure why they would tell you to rename...Just use IMGBurn in write mode..
And what media type are you using?

IMGBurn is your friend. Download and play with it - you'll be pleased with what it can do. The more that I use it, the more I'm impressed.

Never forget: IMGBurn was created by LightningUK, the founder of DVDDecrypter.

I think we're missing some important details here.

How big is that ISO file?

    The file is 3.7 gigs.

I downloaded imgburn and followed the directions, using a DVD-R. No luck. Still won't play on a regular DVD player.

"Won't play" as in "Spits out the disk"?
"Won't play" as in "Doesn't seem to think there's a disk there at all"?
"Won't play" as in "Displays some error message"? (What message in this case?)

If the image was made by somebody else (who knows, maybe it was created in data mode), it might be a good idea to unpack DVD folders (e.g. with WinRAR, UltraISO etc.) and test for playback. Then burn it the correct way.

    Talk about an understatement

Are you sure the image is of a standard DVD file structure ??

What dvd player are you trying to play the burned dvdr on ??

Open one of the VOB's from a burned disc with Gspot, AVIcodec, and see what the framerate, resolution, ect is.....
You may be burning a PAL dvd image in which case your dvd player/tv may not play PAL material, seeing as you are listed as an NTSC country.....

In which case... you may be converting to NTSC from PAL by ripping, converting to AVI, then converting back to NTSC..........

You have pretty much given NO actual info on the IMG you are trying to burn, what is contained in the IMG file, or the hardware in which you are trying to play it on.............
An img, or ISO file can contain ANY file or video/audio/photo info... it is just a container, like a zip or winrar container.....
