  1. When i load a dvd on autogk (the largest IFO file) then i see more subtitles. I want to create a divx file from that dvd but wich subtitle must i choose?
I cannot choose for example three subs because i make an avi so the player doesn't know which to show?

How do i know wich subtitle i must have for the avi from the dvd?

  2. Aren't they labeled in the subtitles dropdown box? Anyway, you can run the Preview and test them out one at a time. Another way would be to play the DVD in something like PowerDVD and choose one after the other until you get the one you want. That number of sub in PowerDVD will be the same in AutoGK, even though AutoGK will label them differently.

  4. I have ripped the dvd with dvdshrink with only 1 subtitle the one belongs to the main movie. However i have selected the subtitle in autogk, powerdvd doesn't display the subtitle in the made avi with autogk? I cannot select the subtitle.

  5. Hi-

So you kept the subs external? They're separate IDX/SUB files (compressed into RAR format, right?) meant to be played along with the AVI? I don't use PowerDVD for that. I don't even know if it supports DirectVobSub. When I suggested PowerDVD, it was to play the original DVD to help you figure out which subtitle track to choose.

If the IDX/SUB files are good (you can open them in SubtitleCreator or SubResynch (comes with VobSub) and read the dialog and timestamps), then test using a real AVI player, one such as Media Player Classic.

  6. No, there are no external subtitles. In the movie there where three subtitles. With dvdshrink i ripped the movie with only the main subtitle belonging to the main movie. So in autogk i only see 1 subtitle that i select. But in the avi wich is created with autogk, powerdvd doesn't display the subtitle and i cannot choose it also?

The subtitle must be in the movie, or is autogk creating a seperat file for the subtitle?

  7. I may have been confused then. Your intention was to hard code, or embed, or "burn" the subs into the video, right? Then it shouldn't make any difference what program you used to play the video; the subs should always be there.

Did you run the AutoGK Preview before doing the encoding? If you don't see any subs in the Preview, then they won't show up in the finished AVI.

I'm a little bit suspicious of the DVD Shrink step, since it shouldn't be necessary. I'm not saying it shouldn't work, but only that it's unnecessary. If you decrypted using DVD Decrypter in IFO Mode and got only the movie (and not the whole DVD), then there shouldn't be any reason to use DVD Shrink, as you can choose the subs you want in AutoGK. If it's a newer DVD with advanced copy protection, then I believe that the DVDFab HD Decrypter also has a movie-only mode. Do you have the log for this failed encode? Can you post it?

  8. I am using dvdshrink to rip the dvd only the main movie and its subtitle because when i don't do this and load the ifo in autogk there are 3 subtitles and i don't know wich to choose. When i rip with dvdshrink i am sure it is the good good subtitle.

When i play the dvd after ripping with dvdshrink and before autogk use i can see the subtitle in powerdvd so the ripping was good i suppose..

In de preview in autogk wich playes a .avs file in mediaplayer i don't see the subtitle?

  9. One remark,

I do get a question from autogk when loading the .ifo:

Several pgc's found in the ifo: select ... then i can select something; one is large and the other 13 minutes. I don't no what it is though.

Why not? Aren't the subtitles labeled when you open the Subtitle track(s) dropdown box, like with English, French, Spanish? Although it happens sometimes, it's somewhat unusual for subs not to be labeled.

Is that a question? I said before that if you choose a subtitle and then run the Preview, if you don't see subtitles, you won't get subtitles in the final AVI.

You would choose the one that corresponds to the length of your movie, the longest one, I would guess. If you used DVD Shrink in Reauthor Mode, then the other 2 short PGCs shouldn't still be in the video, I don't think.

Again, though, please post the log file. I think I have an idea of what's going wrong, and it's related to you removing the unwanted subtitle languages when using DVD Shrink. But I'm not positive, as I don't use Shrink myself. If I remember correctly, it doesn't remap the remaining subs when some are removed, so if, for example, the subs you want were originally the 2nd ones of 3, after removing all but that one, it should be the first and only subtitle, but it's still number 2 and might not be picked up by AutoGK. Or something like that. It would be better, if you insist on using Shrink for getting the main movie, that you keep all the subs and choose the one you want in AutoGK, You can then select a subtitle and run the Preview to make sure you chose the right one. After you're sure you have the right one, then do the encoding.

  11. Why don't you try to use SubRip to rip the subtitles to .srt format.

Then don't choose any subtitles with autoGk, just process the video.

Then you can play the video along with the .srt subtitle you got from using SubRip.
