hello
I need a device to:
- watch and record TV (record in good quality, programmably, to my hard drive)
- listen and record FM Radio (record in good quality, programmably, to my hard drive)
- view Teletext
in my laptop
can you suggest me please
- what kind of card should I buy (USB? PCMCIA? ExpressCard? any?)
- what kind of format it should record in order to have maximum quality?
- any other must-have features?
then if you have any specific recommendation, I d be grateful
thanks

anyone please ?
at least to tell me if recording in MPEG-1 is better than MPEG-2 or DIVX?
if connection via USB is better than PCMCIA or Express?
thanks -
Which format you record to will vary depending on how you plan to use the files. Mpeg-2 will (generally) have higher quality than mpeg-1. Divx would be equal to mpeg-2.

You will probably want a USB 2.0 TV/FM tuner device. I don't think you'll find a PC Card or PCMCIA TV tuner. Most DV (it looks like you laptop has a mini firewire port) devices don't have tuners either.
In theory, MPEG1, MPEG2, and Divx can all deliver about the same quailty. But in practice MPEG1 is used for low resolution (352x288) video and MPEG2 for higher resolution video. Divx may be used for either but it doesn't handle interlaced video as well.
