I'm someone who records a lot of movies, and I deciced to put all my videos now on my pc. I've more than 100 Hi8 and DV tapes, and with my new cam I also have a lot of Full HD recordings in AVCHD sony format.
I've noticed that none of my pc's at home is powerfull enough to quickly edit al my recordings and burn them on Blu-Ray.
So I've assembled a PC that I will use to import, edit and export all my recordings.
This is the config:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
Mainboard: Asus P5E WS Professional
RAM: GeIL DIMM 4 GB DDR2-1066 Kit (GB24GB8500C5DC, Black Dragon Series), 2*1GB
HDD: Western Digital Raptor WD1500ADFD * 4, in Raid 0
Gra. Ca.: GF8800GTX XXX 768MB or GF8800GT Super+ 1024MB
Blu-Ray burner: LG GGW-H20LRB
PSE: Tagan TG700-U33 2-Force II 700 Watt
Case: Chieftec CX-05 B-B
Screen: SyncMaster 245B 24"
OS: Windows XP Pro or XP x64
The software I will use is: Pinnacle Studio 11, Picture Motion Browser Sony, Nero 8, Sony Las Vegas Studio
Can you tell me wich parts I should change and your general opinion about this config.

The video card is about as overkill as you could possibly go. You can get away with a cheap card for what you're doing.
Also ditch the RAID 0 and never ever even think about it ever again. You should run one in those as your boot drive with your apps on it and get some other larger drives for the actual work. I think two extra drives would work of sizes large enough to support your scratch footage. Transcode back and forth between drives as needed. I doubt you'll exceed the data bandwidth of that platform with any SATA2 drives. The increased rotational speed of the Raptors really only help your seek times so they're best suited for boot volumes on workstations. With the amount of memory you're putting in you'll have enough cache space when working with Vegas.FB-DIMM are the real cause of global warming -

You will also want to adopt a backup system for storing your original files. The best solution at the moment based on cost, would be additional HDD's. You could access them using removable trays or use external cases. If you use external cases, you will want to use firewire or eSATA for greater transfer speed.
Aside from the video card overkill and Raptor/RAID issues noted above, everything else looks good.Google is your Friend
