Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Basically, I want to be able to edit the audio of a DVD.

I will probably have to rip it off the DVD and then I'll be able to edit it; the thing is, I want to be able to put the audio back into the Audio_TS file and be able to burn the movie onto a DVD. Or something like that. Is this possible?

The reason I want to do this is because I want to show R-rated movies at a high school, and I was thinking that editting out the profanity would make parents more comfortable with their kids seeing a R-rated movie.

Is the method above feasible, or is the only option I have to rip the audio, edit it however I want, then while playing the movie on mute play the audio on a different medium, like a boombox?

    Thanks for your help!

The audio was never in the Audio_TS folder, it is in the VOB files, along with the video, menus and sub-pictures.

It is feasible, however you are better off just ripping the video and audio, editing the audio, then authoring a new disc with simple or no menus.

If you decide to do this, make sure you do not cut the audio, just mute the sections you want to get rid of. Cutting the audio is a sure way to introduce audio sync problems.

Finally, consider carefully the amount of work involved (this isn't a trivial task), and also if the profanity is the only reason the movie is rated R. I suspect that there will be a lot more than just language that the parents would object to.

Also, as you're doing this for a school, be aware that you will be making a copy of a DVD, which may be illegal depending on your local laws. For home use, no one cares, but the school may get into trouble, and you would be the fall guy.

Don't WalMart or Blockbuster sell censored versions of movies?

    Gunsl1nger: Advice taken.

Now, I have searched around forums for tuts but there are different versions and I don't want to obtain programs only to find that they don't fulfill my purposes adequately. Any suggestions on which programs to use?
