Not all players can be "hacked" to region free. If there are any known codes they will be posted in the DVD Hacks section.

And this should be one of the features you shop for in a new player and not just rely on hacking a player that doesn't officially support it.

Cool answer - slightly self-righteous, isn't it? After all, why does the "DVD Hacks" section exist in the first place?

And yes, the information is available in the big, wide world outside this web-site, if one can take the time off being pedantic to look for it - before posting a negative reply:

The "hacks" exist mainly from larger manufacturers such as Philips which release product in multiple regions. In an effort to save time and money, they will use the same firmware on models in multiple regions and will simply disable options and/or more specifically set regions for where the products are sold. What everyone refers to as "hacks" are simply a method of changing/enabling/disabling features the manufacturer set in the firmware. Not all vendors will support and/or honor their hardware if the user has made changes (ie: hacks).

The whole hack issue aside, region support is a feature anyone should be shopping for when purchasing a DVD player, especially when knowing you want/need to play DVD's from other regions. This is no different than shopping for a model with HDMI output or optical digital output.

As for where to find the information, the OP can and should have checked the user manual and the manufacturers website for region information.

    And thanks for helping.
