Problem Installing Nero 8

I am trying to install Nero8 Ultra. The installation screen starts, the installation hesitates, and then I get the message, "A previous installation of Nero7 is detected, do you want Nero to uninstall it or uninstall it manually?" I click Yes for the Nero auto-uninstall, and it flashes another message, something about the installation package cannot be found and will terminate.

I removed Nero 7 previous to installing 8 (I always do this with all newer versions of any program I install-always remove the older one first) so that was already done. I went online to Ahead Software, and they have a "special uninstaller" which I downloaded and used. Same result. I manually deleted every freakin' Nero or Ahead item in Explore I could find. I scoured the register with Regseeker and removed 3,214 entrys. No kidding.

Oddly enough, this same thing just happened to me with my D-Link DWL-520 wireless card software. Finally gave up and went to cat5 wired. Think I have a problem in my XP system? Everything runs great.

Make sure, MS Autoupdate is running in automatic mode.

After installing Nero just stop the MS update service and disable it once again.
