Hello all!
I had a lot of troubles with playing DVD's on my PC (since I don't use Power DVD or any other programs like that) and I just can't seem to find the right codec the Elecard codec doesn't support deinterlacing and those lines are all across my screen. With DScaler MPEG Filters my program (BSPlayer) just freezes... I was wondering what codec do you use to play DVD's normaly? I really don't like Power DVD thats why I don't want to install it...
Please assist...

I'm pretty happy with KMPlayer for DVDs and Zoom Player for just mpeg2 files. Not sure if either will work under Linux though, but they will work with your XP.

I'd recommend trying VLC also. To play back a DVD with most other players, you need a MPEG-2 codec installed.
But a DVD also has a structure, chapters, menus, subs, alternate audio. For that you also need a player that can recognize all that. VLC is still a good choice, but there are also other freeware players that can display a DVD properly. https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/video-players But with Linux, your choices may be limited.
