Xilsoft MP4 converter - Sound out of synch

I have a pentium 4 with 512 mb ram and have been trying unsuccessfully to get Xilsoft MP4 converter to create an iphone mp4 from a 45 minute avi (I've tried both divx and not). Everytime I try to use it, the sound starts falling out of synch about half way through. By the last few minutes, sound is definitely ahead of picture.

I've used their different iphone settings but it doesn't seem to matter. And yes, the resulting mp4 is out of synch on my computer as well as on the iphone. I'm pretty sure it's not my computer because I can make mp4's directly from DVDs (via Slysoft) and they're just fine.

Beside Xilsoft, I have Nero 8 but it doesn't seem to have this option. I've also tried using Viderora but it won't make more than 5 minutes. I've emailed both Xilsoft and Videroa but never have heard back.

Any suggestions appreciated. I'm frustrated that I spent money on the Xilsoft but am getting no support. Thanks.

Can you post the details about the source avi? Video and Audio Codec? I guess it's MP3 VBR audio that cause the sync problems.
