I have spent 3 hrs editing 3 mpg files into 1 now no matter what i do to save the file
i get no audio, no matter what file options under the export menu i get no audio.
In fact QT will not give me audio with any .mpg file.

Not surprising. ViddyUp can do this for you (depending on what you require the destination file's format to be).

ViddyUp looks promising but i have a 2 hr .mpg made from 3 .mpg files how can i use ViddyUp
I have to save the file first but then i get no audio.
Why won't QT put out audio?

because it's a muxed format, and in flattening it,
Quicktime only sees the video, not the audio.
Switch to MpegStreamclip, and use it to make
.avi files out of the Mpeg files.
(it will properly flatten the muxed files)
Then, stitch the .avi files in QT together, and then save that
as a reference movie. You can then drag and drop that
reference movie into Toast to burn to DVD."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

When I'm not here, Where can I be found?

Hello,
Another option is SimpleMovieX, the light weight Mac movie editor.
