I shot some video with a Sony HDR-HC1 in HD 1080i. I captured the video into FCP and have finished editing. I did a quicktime export from FCP and everything looks great.

The problem I'm having is, I now want to export a smaller version suitable for Youtube and other web streaming sites. I'm using quicktime conversion, and selecting a setting for high bandwidth. When I've done this, and open the rendered file in the quicktime player, it appears in 4:3 format and is squished.

I am really enjoying FCP, but am having a hard time grasping rendering and exporting, and how to get the correct settings for what I'mn trying to do.

    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

  2. when you export your movie (not in the preset), you have a button "size"
clic on it and "check the checkbox" letterbox or "preserve ratio" (I don't know the real name in us system, I suppose it's something like that...)

    bye
