At various times I have authored DVDs with some parts using AC3 audio and other parts of the same DVD using WAV audio. I have never had any problems doing so but I'm wondering if there any hidden gotchas that I'm not aware of.

If you are using different titlesets(called tracks in some authoring tools) it should not be any problems.

    edit: yep, Titlesets!.

Different Titlesets, not just titles. Some authoring tools see these as one and the same, but real authoring tools don't. Also, make sure that any menu audio matches the audio of the titles in that titleset.

Note : this is strictly for compliance, and your authoring tool should pull you up on it if you break the rules. However the problems that can arise from breaking compliance do not affect all players, and sometimes you just get lucky.
