I just upgraded my TV to a HD (720p) set. Now I discovered that my laptop does not have a HDMI port to connect to the HDTV. How can I, withouth buying a new laptop, watch downloaded HD movies on the TV? Thanks.

Does the TV have a VGA computer port? If so problem solved.

If not return the TV for one that does.

Thank, I will check to see ifmy Tv has a VGA port. Will the VGA connection keep the video and audio in HD?

Depends on the laptop. Ideally you set the second monitor VGA output to native resolution of your HDTV display (probably 1366x768). The processing load is now on the graphics chipset in the laptop. If you feed a lower resolution, the TV will scale to native display resolution.

Audio again depends on the laptop. Does it pass digital audio to a coax or optical output or does it just have a headphone jack? Audio processing can be added with a PC card or external USB device.
