Ok. I picked up a cheap copy of the original release of Wyatt Earp. Naturally, it was one of those lousy double-sided single layer deals, so I figured I put it on a DVD+R DL. I ripped with DVD Decryptor and merged the VTS, killed streams, etc with DVD ReMake Pro (3.4.1?). Plays fine from the hard drive, but Nero complains about DVD compliance when I try to burn it. Why is this?

Don't use Nero to burn DL discs. Use Imgburn instead.

The problem you may have is whether or not you have a suitable point for a layer break. This may be what Nero is getting upset about. If Imgburn says you don't have a suitable layer break point then you may have to create one woth PGCEdit.

Ok, now this is just starting to piss me off. PGCEdit found errors. After supposedly fixing them and saving the DVD again, PowerDVD won't play it from the IFO anymore. I can only assume something is still wrong. WTF? Why aren't any of these programs making the damn files totally compliant? Considering all the supposed errors PGCEdit found, DVDReMakePro doesn't seem quite so professional now.

You should post screen shots of the error messages.

Also, you should go to Dimadsoft forum and file a bug, they do fix their stuff.

DVDDecrypter is not really the best ripper to be using, the powers that be shut down development.

I use AnyDVD to rip myself. right click on the fox and it's easy. Nero likes it, my player likes it.

You can upgrade for free from any registered DVDRemake version to the current 3.62.

I LOVE DVDremakepro and always burn my discs with nero. Though i've never burned a DL disc before.

DVDDecrypter still works well on MANY discs, though i like to use my old trusty SmartRipper.

Here's a piece of reading on that specific problem in v.3.4.1 (not in earlier versions):

Since Dimad took part in that very discussion the issue should have been solved in next version. I think you'd find more detail by googling 'dvdremake layer break'.

Well, the issue wasn't with the layer break. PGCedit bitched about it listing 2 audio streams when there was only 1, something about VTS 1 having no title, and something about maping something in the VTS. Then when PGCEdit "fixed" it, the movie would no longer play in PowerDVD. I ended up opening the folder in DVD Shrink and just reauthoring with no menus and no compression. That worked and burned fine. I didn't really need the menu crap anyway.

as far as DVD Decryptor goes, I always liked it. AnyDVD takes care of those nasty new protections for me.
