I am trying to rip a foreign language DVD into a VCD/SVCD. How do I get the English translations at the bottom of the movie onto the VCD, they seems to have disappear after I rip them using Smartripper. Can someone show me or just direct me to find the info in the GUIDE.

  2. There are several ways, DVD2SVCD, DVDx and Flask allow you do this. There's a rather good guide at: http://www.flexion.org/video/DVDConv/DVD2AVI/index.html

actually has more info than you need. Basically:

    1) Rip DVD
    2) Use DVD2AVI to generate D2V and wav file
    3) Run Virtual Dub and load the VobSub filter, use filter to extract subtitles
    4) Frame serve to TMPGenc, and encode.

There are also guides to the left under Author. These subtitles will be permanant! SVCD supports selectable subtitles, however most stand alones do not Also the software (Iauthor) is next to impossible to find and only sold in China.

    Thanks for the help.

After I generated the D2v file with DVD2AVI, I tried to load it to VirtualDub, but it won't recognize the file. I followed the instructions and converted the D2v file to AVI using VFAPIConv-EN.exe, VirtualDub still won't recognize the AVI file, it tells me that I don't have the Codec. What do I do now?
