After searching old messages, I'm wondering if there is any new information on making DVD covers from a template? What is available as freeware?
    regards

    It's pretty much the same.
Download the template from where you
buy your clamshells from ( meritline, shop4tech, etc)
and then use Photoshop to create the layout and
then drop the finished .tif or .jpg into the template
in Illustrator /Corel to output it to a laser printer.

Or, if you were asking where to get covers,
I believe the same sites as always ( cdccovers.cc, etc)
    still exist.

Free? I made an Excel template for a CD-size jewel box that
works well. You need a utility knife and a straight-edge. It
works best with cover stock. Let me know, and I'll e-mail
    you a copy.

You may have to work with this - I'd downloaded it from a Google search.

It did at least give me a feel on generating a blank.[/img]

  5. Why go to the bother of measuring and cutting? You can buy pre-made perforated covers. They are not that expensive. I am not good with scissors and by the time you measure and cut, that takes too much time.

Here is software that comes with a lot of designs and backgrounds for discs and covers. You can even import your own photos and type whatever text you want on the cover.

Wile_E, There are those of us who are waaaaayyyy too cheap to buy the pre-cut ones - including me. Besides, with a high quality rotary cutter; I've been able to get the covers that I make just as I (and my customers) like them. With the right paper (the only premade ones that I actually approved of were the photo glossy ones - pricey at $1 ea) I can produce a cover of such quality that you will not know it was printed on an inkjet.

For a free solution. Search for a dvd template and use gimp or gimpshop , if you are familiar with the photoshop interface.
    I want to believe....
