  1. Hello all!

I have 1.4T of home veideos that I would like to stream to multiple clients on demand. My torrent server is constantly adding new material so I also do not want a playlist (i could add new stuff to one in a script i guess) but an active directory view would be best.

All the media is on Debian Linux (etch) and the clients im trying to stream to are palm's and ipod touch's because these two devices seem to hate codecs (besides x264) but they both can play google and youtube videos im thinking ill be needing an on the fly transcoder to pack everything into an flv file.

I have no clue what software army ill need to achieve this task as videolan cannot stream FLV and its playlist is a huge hassle. I tried out FFserver and it compiles fine but I cant makes heads or tails of the ffserver.conf file to get the damn thing to play aything in any format whatsoever.

If I use FFserver i was thinking of a PHP file list and a clicked link would envoke the right FFmpeg/FFserver commands and redirect the the appropreate page with the output flv but untill I can get it to stream ANYTHING im pulling my hair out.

Am I insane? im just trying to find a nice way to watch video in bed without re-encoding everything in my collection.

    Thanks!!!
