If you want to capture game footage at any HD resolution for around $300, the Earthsoft PV4 is perfect. It is currently only available in Japan, but if you use a Shipping-Japan service, you can use them to buy items in Japan to get the PV4.

Can you reference a site for anyone using it?

It appears to be an Analog Devices AD9980KSTZ-80 feeding an Xilinx FPGA (field programmable gate array). The AD9980 is limited to 1024x768 but can be configiured to accept 720p or 1080i but not necessarilly record at full resolution. It has no HDCP provision which I've heard the Sony PS3 requires.
