Hi I've downloaded the trial version of TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 (15 days use)

When I've imported my videos in and set out the menu I then go to simulation to try it out, this is where the problem starts.

All I want it to is play the video that I have selected from the menu, then once that particular video has finished playing I want the program to return to the menu so I can select a different video to watch.

Everything I have tried so far results in ALL the videos playing in sequence and THEN it returns to the menu, if the problem is something to do with the Link Editor function I cannot select it as I think it has been blocked due to it being a trial version only.

Please can anyone explain to me what I need to do to complete what I thought would be a simple task. If I can solve this problem with your help I would consider buying it as it seems like a very good piece of software.

First, I should warn you that I have NO experience in TMPGEnc DVD Author. But, I've used GuiForDVDAuthor pretty extensively as well as Ulead DVD Movie Factory. Both those applications will flip to a main menu by default unless you tell it other wise.

There are many here who use TMPGEnc DVD Author, so I'm sure one of them will chime in.

Otherwise, you might try GFD. The price is right and WILL do what you want.

In the Menu Wizard, there will be a page that looks like this:

It's changed a bit since TDA2, and I haven't needed to build a new menu since I've upgraded, but I would say try selecting "Display the Track Menu" in the bottom section.

    [EDIT]
What Roma-Turok suggested would probably be best; it used to be easier to select that in the Menu Wizard.

    Hi

I've tried your suggestions but what ever I try does not seem to be achieiving what I want..

    1. I would like to put i.e. 3 Videos onto a FRONT menu only.
    2. Select any video, then when it is has finished I need it return back to the FRONT menu.

I got close, I managed to get the videos displayed on a single front menu, but which ever I select from the menu it will play from that point till ALL videos are played... Then it returns to the menu.

All the the videos seem to be linked which ever menu selection I make seems to make no difference.

Am I being thick and missing the blindingly obvious?

Any chance someone could explain step by step how acheive what I thought would be simple please.

    OK here goes......

Firstly, it looks like all your videos are on the same track.... SO......

Make sure each video is on it's own track by using the "add a track" button on the source page.

Follow Roma_turok's advice to set the Global menu settings as shown.

Apart from "glamming-up" the actual menu screen - that's all there is to it - honestly....
    Don't worry.......we'll be alright...

    Hi JonnyCabs

Thanks for the fast reply, its nice to have someone to ask questions to with more experience.

I've got it sorted now. Your reply was correct, the videos were all on 1 track and I have now put them onto separate tracks and all is okay so far.

I've put some music on the menu too and just burnt a test disk too and it worked ok.

    Question...

When I've played my Video Compilation under simulation on TDA 3, The audio plays back at a lower volume than the CD audio track I've used on the menu. Is there a way of adjusting the volume of the Menu Audio to match the video audio so I don't have to keep changing the volume on the TV ????

I believe there is a "normalize" setting but it's slow to work with. It may be easier to demux the original audio, normalize that in another program like Goldwave and then mux it back together and then use it in TDA 3....
