Hey everyone
I have a cannon ntsc Dc20 and have recorded a vacation in VR mode. Normally I use video mode but anyway....
Now I am unable to get it to my computer. I tried copying the files in windows explorer and it hangs at about 80% complete. Roxio (software that came with it) hangs too when trying to open and edit it. I know that it should be finalized before a computer can use it but when I push the finalize button on my camcorder nothing happens.
The disc is a DVD-RW.
do anyone here know how to help me, either finalize it or get the data to my computer or to a DVD disc?
Thanks

I think dvd shrink handles that mode.
If not try isobuster.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Or use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. And by right clicking on the main PGC you can select to split it into several .VOBs or produce just a single .VOB.

TDA3 or Ulead Video Studio (maybe some others)
These import the raw mpeg from the disk to your HDD. With Ulead the disk does not have to be finalised. -
Welcome jeastman
Try all others as mentioned , but if you have a disc , similar to what I was given to recover , your best shot at recovery is going to be sony vegas ... it may not recover 100% , but what it dose recover will be usable .
Current : 7e trial (134mbs)
Dvd-rw dose not have to be finalized . -
Hey guys
So what you are saying is I need to place the unfinalized DVD into the computer's DVD drive and use one of these softwares to get it out onto my hard drive. These softwares you mentioned though are not free. I have bought softwares in the past to try something only to find it does not do what I need........I'm sure you've all been there.
Are there any free ways to do this? Also, the file format is a VOB not mpg as suggested by one of the responces. -
DVD Decrypter is totally free. You mught want to give it a try.

If you have Nero on your computer, install InCD which may help since VR mode is UDF format like InCD. Then use Cyberlink PowerProducer to rip the disc. It works for me this way on a Pioneer drive I have, but other drives seem to need finalization first.
