    hi.
I recently bought a Plextor Convertx M402U capture card (http://www.plextor.com/english/products/M402U.htm) capable of hardware encoding in the divx format.
after recording from my satellite receiver using plextor gocap utility I wanted to do some editing using VirtualDub but I'm having troubles with the audio stream: http://www.launchfile.com/file/249/audio-nogood.avi.html
gspot says audio is 0x0050(MPEG) ID'd as MPEG-1 Layer 2 with bitrate 224kb/s and FS 48000Hz but apparenty there is something wrong when imported in virtualdub.
I'm not a video capturing expert but the previous capture card I used did not do hw encoding and I never experienced anything like that.

    any suggestions?

I can't hear any audio in the avi clip if I play it with Windows Media Player. But if I extract it to wav with virtualdub I hear something but it's messed up.

You could try open the avi divx in goldwave and export to a wav and see if it sounds good. Then Open the avi divx in virtualdub and select the wav as audio source under audio->browse for audio.

  3. VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.2 gives an "MP3 decoder error: incomplete frame" error at frame 107 when playing or converting that file. VirtualDub 1.7.3 had no problems.

I've found on several files I've worked on that neither VirtualDub nor Adobe Audition could properly extract the files. I had to keep trying different softwares until I found one that could do the job properly.

Long and short is: Not every programs works for every application.

    Hi,
I also have an M402U and encountered the same problems. Here's what I did, stopped using GoCap, it is little more than a testing utility. It creates goofy .mp2 audio files which are not common to .avi files. These are some other capturing apps that work well with the M402U and the DivX hardware encoder: VirtualDub (current builds), CaptureFlux works very well, if you want MPEG-2 Nerovision Express also supports the M402U very well. Using these other capturing apps will capture the Audio as PCM instead of .mp2, then Virtualdub will import the files just fine.
