My guess is that you would need to first convert the frame rate, size and compression of one AVI to match the other and then join them.
Virtual Dub would be the tool of choice. -
Thanks for your reply; but wouldn't changing the framerate of one avi to match the other corrupt the avi?

Ok, first question. Why do you want to join the different AVIs? That is what's wrong w/ having them in pieces? 2nd question. What are the framerates? And last, what final format do you want: DivX, x(S)VCD, avi, etc.

1) Ultimately to convert it to MPG and burn it into a VCD
2) 14.985 vs 29.97fps
3) See (1)
Thanks. -
Ok, but you said you want to join them? Why? Can't you convert each seperately or are they part of the same film? Anyway, there's no easy way to conver a 14.985fps -> 29.97fps w/o causing lots of problems. However, TMPGenc might be able to. I would encode each file seperately then either leave them as seperate tracks on the VCD or join the MPEG files (They'll be at the same framerate).

They are not part of the same film, hence different framerates. Thought it would be easier to join them using VDub. Anyway, I will try the method(s) suggested by you. Thanks again.
